 | | What is the TEL3Dialer app for iPhone? |
 |
 | | The TEL3Dialer App is a free application that allows TEL3 users to place international calls directly from their iPhone. Once you download the application on your iPhone, you do not need to dial any Access Numbers or PINs anymore to be able to use TEL3 service, just dial your destination as normally you do or choose your contact from your address book, and dial directly! |
 |
 | | How can I register my iPhone number with TEL3? |
 |
 | You can easily register your iPhone number by adding it as an Instant Access Number under Account Settings Section on your TEL3 back office or call 800.482.4459 and one of our representatives will help you register your phone.
Accessing your back office is simple; all you need is a username and password. You can get your username by confirming your account number and PIN number.
If you don’t own an account, you will need to sign up with TEL3 first. |
 |
 |
| How does the TEL3Dialer App work? |
 |
 |
All your calls made with TEL3Dialer that starts with (+) or (011) will be connected via TEL3's platform. All other calls, including local and domestic long distance calls will be connected only with your existing wireless provider to prevent double billing.
You can use TEL3Dialer's dial pad, your contact list or even the History tab (recent calls list) to make a call with TEL3Dialer.
When the call is initiated, your registered iPhone number will be recognized by our platform and you will hear a short welcome prompt during the auto-dialing and you will be connected directly without having to enter any access numbers or PINs.
Important Note
- Please make sure you dial all your International contacts (except for Canada) starting with "011" or "+" followed by the country code (e.g. 011 (44) 305 556 7879) before making a call
|
 |
 | | What are TEL3's rates from the iPhone? | |
 | For your International calls with TEL3Dialer, you will only use your regular domestic airtime with your wireless provider while your TEL3 account will be debited per minute based on your Plan.
The main benefit is that you will be charged by Local Access Number rates. That means we waive the 1 cent add-on charge for all calls with TEL3Dialer to any country although the call may be connected with a Toll Free access number! Simplicity meets economics! |
 |
 |
| What are TEL3Dialer's features? |
 |
 |
- Change in Call rule - all calls will be sent through Tel3 platform not just the ones starts with (011) or (+) to make it easier for the user
- Improved help section for more information about the app – added FAQs, Features and Benefits and Free Trial information
- Improved call history section – the last called number is highlighted on the contact
- Added Customer Service button for immediate questions/help – the call will be initiated to TEL3 Customer Service through your existing mobile operator
- “+” is accessible as a separate button instead of holding down the “0” button
Now available in Version 1.2
- Alternative Access Number options: The Access Number used by TEL3Dialer can be now changed based on location and type. This feature is especially useful for travelers. Currently only USA and Canada are supported.
- TEL3 Speed Dial Sync: Provides ability to download your Speed Dial list and use it to make direct calls with TEL3Dialer. Keep your International contacts list cleaner and simpler. This feature requires valid account number and PIN to be entered in the Settings screen for authentication purposes.
- Pin dialing: Enabling this option from the Settings screen allows calls to be made with TEL3Dialer in case the phone's number is not registered as an Instant Access number. This feature requires valid account number and PIN to be entered in the Settings screen for authentication purposes. Users that have already setup their phone number as Instant Access number with TEL3 do not need to enable this option.
| |
 | | Requirements and Notes |
 |
 |
- Compatible with iPhone 3.1 and higher
- An active TEL3 account
- Your iPhone number registered as an Instant Access Number
- Warning: As of iPhone OS 3.1, Apple made a change on all Applications, and hence when you complete a call with TEL3Dialer App, iPhone automatically launches the original iPhone dialer. So please make sure to dial with "CALL WITH TEL3" button on the Tel3Dialer app if you want to make a call via your TEL3 account!
- The iPhone currently uses rather slow dialing after the initial connection - this might cause problems in few of your calls. This is a general issue with the phone application and might be fixed in a future iPhone software update
- During the call and in the "Recent Calls" list the phone application will show the access number (800# or local access number) followed by the contact's number instead of the contact's name

SmartPlug FAQs
- What is SmartPlug?
- My phone is not listed in your compatibility list; will I be able to use SmartPlug?
- How do I know if my phone is compatible?
- How do I download the SmartPlug software?
- How do you uninstall the SmartPlug software?
- What prompts alert me that when I am using the SmartPlug software I am being connected to TEL3Advantage?
- What number does it show when my call is being connected by SmartPlug?
- How do you reboot a SmartPhone? (Also known as a Soft Reset)
- How does SmartPlug know if the number I am calling is long distance?
1. What is SmartPlug?
The SmartPlug software is an application installed on your cell phone, which enables a direct connection to TEL3Advantage without having to dial our toll free or local access numbers. SmartPlug was chosen for its ease of use and cost savings to consumers. SmartPlug enables cell phone users to place calls directly from their mobile address book or memory, seamlessly diverting calls through TEL3Advantage’s service. Subscribers receive our superior calling card service without cumbersome dialing procedures. It is compatible with over 450 cell phone models including Nokia, Samsung, LG, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Siemens. SmartPlug functions as a super intelligent step up from a calling card but without the fuss of having to dial access numbers or enter PIN. Unlike your usual roaming network you can still use all your phone’s functions and features (address book, call log etc). You simply dial to your desired destination as normal, while the SmartPlug software dials through a local number, which seamlessly connects the mobile unit to SmartPlug’s exchange. SmartPlug’s exchange then determines the plugs internal account number, verifies the balance on the account and continues to process the call throughout its duration. SmartPlug Software is sent to your handset OTA (Over the Air) via SMS (a link in a text message) or can be sent as an email attachment that you can download via Bluetooth wireless technology or by using your phone’s USB cable. It is completely hassle free!

2. How do I know if my cell phone is compatible?
3. My phone is not listed in your compatibility list; will I be able to use SmartPlug?
If your phone is not listed in the compatibility list, we suggest not downloading the SmartPlug software on your phone since it will not function properly and may not direct your calls through our service. You can always click here and we will notify you when your cell phone model is available.
You will need to know your phone model. To find your cell phone’ model number:
- Remove the back panel of your handset
- Remove the battery
- Find the phone name and model number on the phone back
To find what OS (Operating system) and version you are using:
- Go to your Menu
- Find Settings
- Choose "About" when downloading the application from the TEL3Advantage site server, after you have chosen the appropriate phone model, the OS will be shown in red
Back to top
4. How do I download the SmartPlug software?
This solution does not require any additional implementation except a one-time simple installation consisting of just 4 easy steps to follow:
- The first and most important step is to make sure your cell phone is compatible with our software. It’s easy to check, just click here. You’ll need to know your phone’s brand and model number. (Blackberry owners will need to know their Blackberry OS version.)
- Once you have selected the brand and phone you will be using, just enter your cell phone number and your E-mail.
- Our system will send you a text message to your cell phone containing a link from which to download the application. Click the link within the text message to begin downloading the application via cellular internet, GPRS or WAP.
- Once the software download is complete, it is ready to be installed. Your phone’s system will prompt you to begin the installation. Once the installation is complete your phone»s system will notify you of its completion and you should see the TEL3Advantage logo in your applications.
Note: Most SmartPhones require a "Soft Reset" after installation or after making changes to the preferences. See FAQ# 8 for further details on performing a "Soft Reset".
Once installed, all you have to do is either dial the long distance number directly on your cell phone or select a number from your phone’s directory just like you would for any call. As your cell phone functions, the SmartPlug software constantly operates in the background. Once it recognizes that an international number is being dialed, it redirects the call to the TEL3Advantage. The result: Significantly cheaper international calls, without cumbersome calling codes, access numbers and PINs.
5. How do you uninstall the SmartPlug software?
Please see the application uninstall procedures for your specific phone found in the user manual. Different phones have their own standard uninstalling processes; however deleting the application is usually good enough.
6. What prompts alert me that when I am using the SmartPlug software I am being connected to TEL3Advantage?
When using SmartPlug you will hear the standard prompts as if you are using an Instant Access Number (Thank you for using TEL3, Balance and Minutes to Destination Dialed). You will also see the TEL3 logo on the screen of your phone with a progress bar.
7. What number does it show when my call is being connected by SmartPlug?
In the SmartPlug settings, you have the option to use "Toll Free English", "Toll Free Spanish" or a Local Access Number that you specify. The "Toll Free English" Number is: 1-800-559-9166. Regardless of being connected via the Toll-Free or a Local Access Number, you will be charged the Local Access Number rate which is 1¢ cheaper than the per minute rate of Toll-Free Access.
8. How do you reboot a SmartPhone? (Also known as a Soft Reset)
"Reboot" on most SmartPhones cannot be done by just turning it off and back on again. What needs to be done is a "Soft Reset". It usually means taking a pin, paper clip, pen or stylus and pushing a recessed button on either the back, side or under the battery cover on the phone. This is equivalent to a computer being restarted and loads any changes made to the device into memory. This should not be confused with a "hard reset" which can erase everything from the device. Please refer to the user manual of your device for details on performing a "Soft Reset".
9. How does SmartPlug know if the number I am calling is long distance number?
SmartPlug automatically recognizes international phone numbers with the prefix "+" or "011" and 10 digit numbers with a "1" in front. Please save the long distance numbers you intend to call in one or more of the following formats. Example: (011380939822459, +380939822459, 18765552541).

*Terms & Conditions: Please
click here to see the list of countries and how many
minutes you can talk free. Free minutes will expire 15 days after initial activation.
FREE trial: TEL3's FREE trial is completely free; however TEL3 is not responsible
for any airtime/SMS fees charged by your cell phone service provider. Using the
TEL3 service from your cell phone may accumulate charges to your wireless bill by
pressing the pound (#) key. For some wireless service providers, the pound key activates
another line in which your wireless service connects the call for you instead of
TEL3. In such cases, TEL3 is not responsible for any charge that may accrue onto
your cell phone bill. Any and all Free Minutes Talk Time is only valid in the forty−eight(48)
contiguous United States and Canada. Please note that if you will be placing calls
from other than United States, and United States territory, roaming charges may
apply by your wireless provider. Please check with your wireless provider to get
more information about roaming charges. Requests from internet SMS enabled services (like Google Voice) are not eligible for TEL3's FREE Trial at this time.
The new iPhone application: If you own an iPhone, we have good news for you. It is available for free in iTunes App Store. After you submit your request for the free trial, you will be also able to download the app to your iPhone and start testing our service absolutely free. Who can beat that?
